THE YOUNG AFRICAN WOMEN CONGRESS (YAWC) GHANA CHAPTER PAYS COURTESY CALL ON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF EOCO
A three (3)-member team from the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) paid a courtesy call on the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office on Monday, 18th March 2024.
The pan-African women network whose aim is to empower and encourage the advancement of women and the girl child on the continent visited the Office following the celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day.
The group was elated that the Office for the first time has seen the appointment of a female Executive Director and wanted to take the opportunity to invite her to be a Patron of the Ghana Chapter of their network.
Their President and head of delegation, Ms. Matilda Hammond, added that the Network has over the previous years been involved in the rescue of victims of rape and other forms of violence against women in Africa. It is therefore their belief that COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah and EOCO for that matter will be instrumental in matters pertaining to Human Trafficking and all other criminal endeavors that women in these areas will be privy to. She added that COP Addo-Danquah will serve as a mentor and encouragement for young women and girls across the continent to aspire to greater heights.
The Executive Director, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo -Danquah in her remarks commended the tremendous work that the team was doing. She, as a professional accountant and financial crime professional, sought to find out the source of funding for the network and engaged the ladies on some matters relating to their activities.
She further accepted their request to be their patron and added that she would have wished such women groups existed when she was younger to serve as an encouragement for her and all women leaders to unearth the potential that exist in them as young women and girls.
