INAUGURATION OF A LOCAL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE FOR THE 14TH REGIONAL AND ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE HEADS OF ANTI-CORRUPTION ORGANISATIONS IN COMMONWEALTH AFRICA

An event to inaugurate the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 14th Regional and Annual General Meeting of the Heads of Anti-Corruption Organisations in Commonwealth Africa came off successfully on 24 January, 2024 at the Head Office of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Accra.

In her welcome address, the Executive Director (ED) of EOCO, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah expressed delight that the 2024 edition will be hosted by Ghana from 12th -18th May 2024 and that EOCO being one of the three Anti-corruption Agencies (CHRAJ and OSP) is leading the organisation of the event. 

She said in all, 21 Commonwealth African Countries are expected to participate in this year’s event. It will be a meeting to exchange ideas, share knowledge and adopt best practices from the respective participating countries. She further outlined the role of the LOC.

The Board Chairman of EOCO, Mr. Stephen Raymond Dapaah-Addo (Esq) swearing in the 13-member LOC made up of representatives from the Security and Anti-corruption  Agencies, charged members to work assiduously to organise an event that will project the image of EOCO and lift high the flag of Ghana.

The Strategic Chairman of the LOC, the Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice of the Republic, Hon. Alfred Tua-Yeboah, accepted the responsibility and challenge and assured all stakeholders of a very wonderful event.

On his part, the Head of Public Sector Governance at the Commonwealth Secretariat, Dr. Roger Koranteng gave a brief historical perspective on the annual general meetings of the Anti-corruption agencies within the African Commonwealth States and pledged his strong support to the LOC and EOCO towards a successful event.

Present at the event were Mr. Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah, Deputy Executive Director; Operations, Mrs. Aba J. Opoku, Deputy Executive Director; Intelligence and Monitoring and Heads of Unit from EOCO.
