A Delegation from Dutch National Police of the Netherlands paid a familiarization visit to the Economic and Organised Crime Office on 31 October 2024.
The visit was to acquaint themselves with the operations of the Office and to discuss collaboration points for the institutions.
COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah emphasised that the world is now a global village and so countries and trans-national institutions have to work closely through mutual legal assistance with international partners to combat crime.
She added that for a very long time the Netherlands Police did not have an official liaison in Ghana, hence the recent appointment of a liaison to Ghana is a great relief.
The delegation was briefed on the mandate and operations of the Office in a presentation, which generated discussions on the many prospects for collaboration.
The delegation led by Madam Sandra van de Linde who is the Deputy Head of Intelligence of the Dutch National Police, stated that the Dutch National Police hitherto did not have a liaison stationed in Ghana but is pleased to inform the house of the recent posting. This she added would assist with information sharing in a timely and efficient manner.
The following were other members of the delegation and their various designations:
1. Gijs van Kempen Coordinating Senior Advisor for the Department of International Cooperation, Commissioner’s Staff of the Netherlands Police.
2. Jeroen Poelert Commander Serious Organised Crime at the National Investigations and Special Operations Centre.
