
MALAWI DEFENCE FORCE COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE PAYS COURTESY CALL TO EOCO
Officials from the Malawi Defence Force Command and Staff College on Thursday 9th October, 2025 paid a courtesy call on the Management of the Economic and Organised Crime Office to familiarise themselves with operations of the Office.
The team, led by Head of delegation, Col. Alfred Luciano Matambo and Brig. Gen. Crispin Phiri; Assistant Commandant of the College, was made up of 16 students of the College drawn from Malawi, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia and Kenya. Their purpose of the courtesy call was to explore ways of collaborating with EOCO in the fight against transnational organised crime and to strengthen good governance between the two Nations.


Following a presentation on the mandate of the Office by SO Anthony Leo Siamah; Head of Legal and Prosecutions of EOCO, the Executive Director of EOCO, Mr. Raymond Acher, in his welcome address, stressed the need for law enforcement agencies to work together both internally and externally to promote shared value and security.
The Executive Director indicated that EOCO over the years has remained focused on dismantling economic and organised crime syndicates that are threatening lives and the economy. In this regard, he added that EOCO is open to share experience and expertise with other collaborators in the fight against economic and organised crimes.
Mr. Raymond Acher also touched on EOCO’s collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)-USA, National Crime Agency (NCA)-UK, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)- Nigeria among others on cases involving various trans-border crimes. He further stated that EOCO is hopeful for more opportunities to partner with Malawi to share knowledge on new crime trends, strategies and other useful opportunities.
Other EOCO officials present at the meeting were CSO Aba Jacqueline Opoku - DED/ General Services, Mr. Benjamin Ndego - DED/ Operations and PSO Elizabeth Buckman; Director Administration & Human Resource.
